Emily Ianacone is a Design Strategist for the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Innovation. She joined the Bloomberg-funded “i-team” after a fellowship with the inaugural cohort of Foster America, where she co-designed products and services with families at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. Prior to Foster America, she was selected for a 2015 White House Presidential Innovation fellowship, an Obama Administration program. While earning a Master of Arts in Social Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Emily focused her thesis work on the long-term impact of childhood trauma and chronic stress related to the social determinants of health. She previously spent a decade in brand communications after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Design, and later returned to RIT as an adjunct design professor. An avid music lover, she served on the Girls Rock! Rochester board of directors for three years. Emily is honored to bring her human-centered approach, trauma-informed lens, and visual design skills to the Baltimore i-team. She is endlessly curious about what drives people’s behavior, and is dedicated to seeing Baltimore residents achieve health equity through systemic reform.
