Excuse Our Dust Workshop*

*This session is reserved for people of color, only.

Detroit is 92% and Baltimore is 72% people of color, but the people who design the places that POCs inhabit the most are often European-American. Bleeding Heart Design uses human centered design to foster altruism through architecture. The UnLearning House project & Urban Regal discussions will ask what happens when designers of color band together to forge design genres that speak to the essence of their cultures. How can our conversations today manifest and last for years to come? The workshop will present The Unlearning House & Urban Regal process, and then move into exercises prompting deep investigation and dialogue around cultural heritage, experience, and nuance; their relationship to elements/experiences of the built environment; and subsequent manifestation of schools of design-thought rooted in this process.

*This is an "Excuse our Dust" Session!*
Excuse our Dust is  a series of interactive workshops focused on in-process projects, from a women-led, San Francisco-based group working to support diversity in the field of public interest design to an East Baltimore community developing cooperative ownership models. Participating groups are interested in feedback, so come with questions and ideas.
