My research examines the effects of early city planning mechanisms on Dallas through case study and concludes that class and race played a significant role in implementation of Dallas's first city plan.  Through my work at the Trust for Public Land as a landscape designer and planning advocate, I still experience and work in places neglected by this unequal implementation.  This is why understanding history is imperative to being a more educated designer and a better advocate.
