Feedback form is now closed.
In response to damages sustained by small businesses during the 2015 civil unrest, Maryland DHCD partnered with local architects and workforce development nonprofits to design and implement $650,000 of improvements to storefront exteriors. The Maryland Business Recovery Storefront Improvement Program targets areas that experienced concentrated damage. It seeks to increase quality of life in marginalized communities through coordinated investments in business retention and workforce training. We’ll discuss program challenges and successes, personal insights and lessons learned from the experiences collaborating to bring projects from the drawing board to the community, and how this innovative program can serve as a model for future projects.
